The e-safety website has been created by smsweb (Pty) Ltd., the leading SMS communications supplier to schools in South Africa, in response to requests from parents and teachers who are being faced with the ever-growing challenge of educating children in the safe use of what is now globally interconnected communications technology.

This is the ‘generation gap’ of the 21st Century; the ever-widening gap that exists between our children, who are techno-savvy, and ourselves, who are in most cases two or three steps behind our children in the understanding of what modern communications technology is capable of, the freedom it offers, and the dangers inherent in that freedom of communication.

Parents, who are themselves at a loss to monitor and protect their children from the dangers lurking in the internet and cell phone environments, have turned to teachers and the education establishment , who are themselves woefully ill-equipped to deal with these issues, to bridge the gap.

This website is an attempt to redress this imbalance, and provide e-safety education to parents and teachers so that all of our children can be protected from harm and themselves grow up to be responsible and caring users of the amazing technologies we all take for granted.
